Continuing Health Education
The Nurse Refresher Course is a "hybrid" oline offering - combining internet study with learning opportunities/experiences in the ICC Health Skills Lab and on a hospital medical surgical unit. This course is available to nurses, both LPN and RN, who have maintained licensure, have not worked in nursing for some time, and wish to refresh their knowledge base. The goal is to allow nurses to update their theoretical knowledge and clinical skills so that they may comfortably move into the nursing workforce.
RNs wishing to reinstate their licenses must complete 48 hours of theoretical content and 96 contact hours of clinical content. LPNs wishing to reinstate their licenses
must complete 32 hours of theoretical content and 64 hours of clinical contact hours. Each participant has 12 months to complete all facets of the entire course.
The cost for RN Refresher is $1180 and includes all instruction and skills labs. The cost for LPN Refresher is $1,015. Both programs also require an additional fee of $41 for a background check. Individuals in both programs will also incur additional
costs for textbooks, reference guides, physical exam, immunizations, and other medical items, including stethoscope, bandage scissors, penlight and watch with a second hand.
This particular ICC course is the first in the state of Illinois to be offered in this innovative non-credit format. It is specifically designed for busy individuals who
need flexibility in managing their learning experience. ICC's Professional Development Institute will coordinate the project along with ICC's Health Careers and Public
Services Department.
Upon paid registration, you will be contacted with information on student orientation, text books and computer requirements. Payment is due within seven days of receipt
