Illinois Student Assitance Commission - Monetary Award Program (ISAC-MAP)
The State of Illinois has set up a program to assist students in paying their tuition (no fees or books are covered) at approved post-secondary schools within the State of Illinois. At Illinois Central College,
the Illinois Student Assistance Commission currently awards anywhere from $500 to $1,792 toward tuition only. Eligibility for awards is based on the financial need of the student and/or his/her family, and awards
are determined by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission. State application deadlines apply. Map grants are limited based on the number of applicants and funding levels appropriated by the Illinois General Assembly.
Be aware that in light of state funding constraints, reduction to estimated or actual MAP grants are possible.
MAP will not pay for audit courses, credit-by-examination or, non-credit classes. Such coursework cannot be used to meet the half-time or full-time requirement.
At Illinois Central College, ISAC-MAP checks are generally disbursed at the end of the applicable semester in the form of a tuition refund.
** PLEASE NOTE **
MAP Grants are tuition specific. If your tuition is paid by a third party or you receive a tuition waiver, you are not eligible for MAP.,
MAP awards for community colleges are announced for 15 semester hours of enrollment, but the actual amount the student receives depends upon the number of credit hours the student is enrolled. Documentation of
attendance may be necessary if you withdraw from class(es). This award may not pay for summer semester and may not pay if student is receiving other scholarships or grants specified for tuition only.
Eligibility for MAP is tracked by the equivalent number of semester credit hours of map benefits paid on a student behalf. A MAP recipient may receive the equivalent of 135 semester credit hours of MAP benefits
paid. However a student may use no more than 75 MAP Paid Credit Hours while enrolled at the freshman or sophomore level.
