Financial Aid
How to Apply
In order for ICC to begin processing your financial aid information, you must first submit an ICC enrollment application. ICC Online Application
If you are a first time financial aid applicant, you must apply for a PIN number that will serve as your signature when you file the online FAFSA. If you are a dependent student, your parents must also apply for a PIN number. Your PIN number can be used each year to apply for financial aid and to access your federal student aid records online. Be sure to make a 4 digit PIN that you will remember!! For example, birth month and year has worked very well for our students in the past. Select APPLY FOR PIN NUMBER NOW below to begin the process. If you already have a PIN number but have lost or forgotten it, you can request a duplicate by selecting Request a Duplicate from this same link provided below.
You must submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every year you wish to apply for financial aid. Each year, the FAFSA is available on January 1 for the upcoming academic year. In order to provide the information requested on the FAFSA, it is advised that you have the previous year's tax returns and all schedules completed in order to provide accurate information on the FAFSA. It is advised that you complete your tax returns and the FAFSA as soon as possible as many institutions have priority deadlines for thier financial aid applicants. The priority deadline for ICC is June 1. To ensure Illinois Central College receives your FAFSA information, be sure to include our school code #006753. Applications received prior to June 1 will be considered for financial aid programs with limited funding, the FSEOG and FWS grants. Applications received after June 1 will not be considered for these grant programs.
Approximately four days after you have submitted your FAFSA to the federal processor, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) via e-mail. Some applications are selected for verification, which is indicated on your Student Aid Report and the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) number on your SAR may be flagged with an asterisk (*). If your file is selected for verification, it is the responsibility of the institution to verify the information provided on your FAFSA. You will receive a letter from ICC with a list of required documents (i.e. IRS tax transcripts, verification worksheets, etc.). You must submit these documents in order for ICC to continue processing your application. You will not be eligible for any financial aid if these items are not submitted for review. Once your file has been reviewed and completed, you will receive an award notice through the U.S. mail which will outline the types of financial aid awards for which you are eligible. At ICC, we do our best to begin sending financial aid award notices in April so you are able to make informed decisions regarding your education.
Beginning with the 2012-2013 FAFSA, schools are no longer allowed to accept tax returns as the tax document needed to perform verification if required. You can request a tax transcript, free of charge, from the IRS in one of three ways.
