Wellness Works

General Information

Wellness Works is a point-based wellness program that is designed to encourage ALL Illinois Central College employees (full and part-time) and retirees to participate in wellness activities throughout the year. These activities include health screening services brought right on campus (mammograms, annual blood work, PSA screening, etc) as well as regular exercise, successful weight loss and smoking cessation.

Wellness Works also implements a self-guided health improvement program each session for employees to complete. These programs are educational in nature and cover various aspects of wellness and stress management. Great, free informative seminars are also offered each session for participants given by experts on current health and wellness topics. For all of these wellness activities and programs an employee participates in, they are awarded points. Additional points can also be earned for getting your annual physical and other recommended health exams. The "wellness points" you earn throughout the year then add up and lead to rewards!

What’s the pay-off if I do this?
Obviously, improved health and well-being would be at the top of the list. But participants also receive CASH! At the end of the year, those who have participated in the Wellness Works activities can have their points totaled. The number of wellness points an employee earns for the year then correlates directly into how large their cash reward is. The rewards for 2008 will again range from $25 to $200. EACH participant receives cash based on the number of points they have earned! In order to receive your cash reward, you must be employed at the time of the December Wellness Works pay out.

25-49 Points - $25.00
50-74 Points - $50.00
75-99 Points - $75.00
100-124 Points - $100.00
125-149 Points - $125.00
150-174 Points - $150.00
175-199 Points - $175.00
200+ Points - $200.00

When and how do I get started?
Wellness Works 2009 officially starts on Monday, January 12 (but you can begin anytime during the year). Wellness Works will remain "high-tech" this year using the Wellness Works website and e-news to communicate with you! The "Log of Activities" will be available on our website starting January 12. There is no sign-up required! Just go to the website or refer to the "2009 Log" and get started. Call Health Services (309) 694-5475 and we’d be happy to answer your questions.

As you participate in Wellness Works activities taking place on campus (with the exception of the ICC Fitness Center), you will NOT be required to keep track or turn in proof of participation! We will do that for you and keep track of those points automatically. For those activities you complete off campus (health exams, home exercise work-outs, the self guided health programs, etc), you will be required to turn in proof but we encourage you to do that as you go and it will be automatically recorded and added to your point total! Just participate in the activities on campus and turn in proof of your wellness activities off campus and that's it!

What’s the catch?
There isn’t one! Just look for the "Log" on the Wellness Works website starting Monday, January 12 and you are all set. Again, if you would like a printed version of the "Log of Activities" just call (309) 694-5475 and let us know! We look forward to all of you participating!

All participants are reminded to refer to the Wellness Works Explanations for important information regarding proper documentation procedures and important dates that need to be remembered.

Just watch e-news and the Wellness Works website for more information throughout the year!

Please Note: Important changes that were made in 2007, still apply for 2008:
  • Those attending seminars this year will be rewarded 10 wellness points. If you watch a video or DVD of the presentation you will be awarded 5 wellness points as in the past.
  • Participants currently enrolled at the ICC Fitness Center must continue to keep track of their workouts on exercise logs and turn them in at the end of each session.
  • All documentation (including exercise logs) for each session must be turned into Health Services at the end of that session. Health maintenance exam proof can be turned in at any time.
  • A New Wellness Program: Body-for-Life worth 100 Wellness Points upon completion. For more information contact Jennifer Scoby at jennifer.scoby@icc.edu or visit the website at http://bfl-icc.ning.co
