A Compelling Reason To Change
When we talk about the importance of the Burning Platform at Illinois Central College, we are describing the potential threats to the future of the college that give us a sense of urgency to act. The burning platform issues are compelling reasons for us to make changes that will allow survival and growth.
At Illinois Central College, our burning platform issues include:
- Rising expenses in the face of declining state revenues
- Changing community workforce needs
- Increasing competition
- Higher student expectations of services provided
- Increasing reliance on counseling and advisement on student "life" issues
To not respond to our burning platform issues means that we might not be able to ensure a positive future for ICC.
