Are your online students often surprised or overwhelmed by the idiosyncrasies of learning online? Do they arrive in your virtual classrooms with unrealistic expectations of workload and levels of interaction/participation? if so, join Dr. Susan Manning and Kevin Johnson, two online instructors and authors of the recently released book Online Education for Dummies, as they share ideas on how to develop courses around the idea of student expectations and success. In this two-hour event, we'll share ideas of how institutions, advising staff, departments, and instructors can better prepare students for transitioning to the online environment. Be smart and let the Dummies guide you. Hope to "see" you there!

All faculty are invited to study, participate and discuss teaching strategies for increasing student engagement, holding to high expectations, encouraging student preparedness and increasing student success.

Assessment and Evaluation
Participants will share what they learn from their study and review of the selected resources. Blackboard will be used to supplement learning and discussion. The face-to-face discussion sessions are strongly encouraged but online discussions and assignments may be substituted to complete the “series option” for the ICC Adjunct Faculty Blueprint for Success. Full-time faculty may claim the series equivalent to 8 hours of learning towards “units”.

The Ways of Leadership Series is part of the 21st Century Leadership Series offered by the Professional Development Institute. ICC personnel may be able to attend PDI workshops at a discounted rate when the workshop directly applies to the staff member’s job function and he/she has supervisory approval.
Plan to attend one, a few or all of the workshops. All workshops at held in Perley 203 on the Downtown Campus. All workshops occur on Thursdays from 1 to 4 PM.

3. Patrice forwards email to PDI for registration and authorization;
4. PDI works directly with the individual regarding workshop confirmation and logistics.

All personnel are invited to learn more about the ICC Blue Book and the True Blue Attitude Campaign. True Blue Attitude is relevant to all NEW PERSONNEL or personnel who did not previously participate in the True Blue Attitude Campaign. ICC personnel may participate in True Blue Attitude in one of two ways; online through discussions with others throughout the college or in-person with a manager. Choose one of the formats listed below to complete True Blue Attitude.
True Blue Attitude ONLINE (Begins Monday, March 8 and ends Wednesday, March 31)
Participants in the ONLINE True Blue Attitude will use Blackboard and engage in online discussions about the Blue Book. Register for the ONLINE True Blue Attitude and then receive instructions in email on how to begin and complete True Blue Attitude in Blackboard. Get assistance with using Blackboard and finishing True Blue Attitude from the Teaching and Learning Center, 240A on the East Peoria Campus (no prior Blackboard experience is required.)

True Blue Attitude IN-PERSON (Begins Monday, March 8 and ends Friday, April 30)
Participants in the IN-PERSON True Blue Attitude will respond to a printed list of questions and discuss the questions and their responses with their supervisors. Following the meeting between the participant and the supervisor, the participant may submit a completed True Blue questionnaire, signed by the supervisor, to the Teaching and Learning Center.

The Eureka College Organizational Leadership program is designed to prepare students to assume management-focused leadership positions at organizations in both the public and private sectors.
The Organizational Leadership Program is offered as a cohort. Students start and complete this program as a member of a cohort (determined by the start date in the program). Each course for the Organizational Leadership cohort is offered in alternating, intensive weekends for approximately 20 months (or 5 semesters).
Due to the short duration, the courses have been put into an accelerated format, although individuals are only taking one course at a time. Courses are delivered during the weekends, from 5:30 to 9:30 pm on Fridays and 8 am to 5 pm on Saturdays. Snacks and meals are provided.
