Questions & Answers; ICC Retiree Health Coverage  [pdf]

UPDATED April 28, 2006
Emil Haefilinger and Ed Smith attended yesterday's Board of Trustees meeting. Several other members attended, as well. The board did not discuss insurance for retirees in open session.

Emil had a second discussion with Bruce Budde earlier this week with regard to the proposed "transition" from ICC health insurance to the state CIP plan and, again, stated our objections to any forced move of retirees currently covered by ICC. Dr. John Erwin has sent a letter to Emil on this matter; that letter has not yet been received.

As a result of discussions to date, we have been asked to provide a member for inclusion on the Six Sigma Team that is investigating the retirees' insurance issue. None were originally included in the group, so we have some progress on this front.

The ICCRA Executive Committee will meet either next Wednesday or Thursday afternoon to consider a response to the administration's recent communications. That letter will continue to register our objection to any involuntary change of health insurance coverage. We will keep you informed of any actions taken on this matter.

Please note that this message has also been emailed to retirees' who subscribe to an email service. Please tell other interested retirees you know about this message and where it can be found, or print and share it with those who do not have access to email or web sites. You can comment to Ed Smith at eismith@aol.com, or at (309) 645-8898.

At this time, ICC and ICCRA would like to have comments from retirees on this proposed transition and the effects would have on you. Bruce Budde, VP of Finance and Administration, attended the April 6 ICCRA membership meeting and distributed print materials to the members in attendance. Those documents and others are available for reading and download on this page. Please click and read or download each one. Please read the document, To ICCRA members from the Executive Committee first. The documents require Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer; a link to download this program is included, below.

The ICCRA Executive Board welcomes your comments. If you have specific questions on comparative coverage under these two plans, please call the Benefits & Risk Management Office and speak to Dale Cunningham at (309) 694-5430 or Angie McElyea at (309) 694-5398.
