I received my diploma from Methodist Medical Center of Illinois School of Nursing in Peoria in 1979. I, then, continued my education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where I completed my BSN in 1983. My MS in Nursing was obtained in 1990 from University of Illinois - Chicago.
I worked in a variety of areas from 1979 to 1990 while perusing my education. Most of the time I worked full time and went to school part time. I have worked in the Coronary Care Unit to a Skilled Care Unit. During the past 12 years, I have been in nursing education I am active in Central Illinois Psychiatric Nurse’s Association, currently holding the office of treasurer.
I try to use a variety of teaching styles. Lecture is my least favorite and small group exercises are my most favorite. I try to include humor in my teaching. I welcome questions; especially those which get me to think or to hit the books finding the answers. I start class on time so that I can finish on time.
I would like to make some posters that address issues not taught in class. I enjoy reading, especially mysteries and mushy love stories( in addition to my psychiatric textbook).
