Upon graduating from Lakeland Community College with my degree in dental hygiene, I worked clinically at various dental offices, specialty offices and a dental school. While working, I elected to continue my education with my goal being to be able to teach dental hygiene. I was fortunate to become full-time faculty here at Illinois Central College in 1995. I enjoy helping my students learn and grow professionally.
Having taken many courses through the years, I have learned the value of making learning enjoyable and interactive. Most of my lectures are complimented with PowerPoint illustrations to aid in understanding and visualization of the material and supplemented with a BlackBoard site. The student is provided with study guides to ensure that important information is not missed. I feel that I have a very open and relaxed teaching style. Input from the students is requested to ensure that I am meeting their needs and expectations as well addressing their individual learning styles.
Unfortunately, my coursework at the University of Illinois occupies most of my free time. So, like my students I am often studying or writing papers. However, I do enjoy time with my family. We enjoy outdoor activities as well as traveling to warm, sunny places.
