Twenty eight years in Law Enforcement with the Illinois State Police in the Chicago area. Assignments include general criminal activity, organized crime, homicide, terrorist task force, drug and gang enforcement. Assignments with the U.S. Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration for four years. Commander of investigations with the Illinois State Police for more than 24 years. Selected as the "Policeman of the Year" in Kane County Illinois. More than twenty years of specialized police training and certified instructor at the Illinois State Police Academy, Drug Enforcement Administration and the Northeast Multi-Regional Police Training Institute. Since 1987, teaching experiences include teaching criminal justice at Lake County College, Elgin Community College, McHenry County College, Aurora University & Judson University. Several publications on drug field testing and recognized as an expert in drug enforcement law enforcement and street field testing procedures. Commander of criminal investigation and Deputy Director of the North Central Narctics Task Force.
I have taught criminal justice courses in Criminalistics, Community Policing, Organized Crime, Introduction to Policing, Juvenile Delinquency, Criminal Law, Criminology, Deviant Behavior and Introduction to Sociology. Currently, I am the Program Director in Crime Scene Technology. I dedicate most of my teaching assignments to crime scene. I teach CST 240, 241,242, 243, CRJ 120, CRJ 121, CRJ 245 & CST 255.
My lectures involve student participation, power point lectures and lab assistance. I reflect upon my law enforcement experiences to criminal justice topics and crime scene topics. I feel practical experience in the law enforcement field is important to relate to students.
I spend as much time with my family as I possibly can. They are the most important part of my life. My wife and I enjoy traveling and being around family. My wife’s name is Anne and she is a Registered Nurse and Health Care Director in an Assisted Living facility. We have three children. Michael, Taralynn and Ryan. This year we will be married for 40 years. Michael is a sales representative in Forensic DNA equipment with an M.S. in Molecular Biology from Northern Illinois University. Taralynn teaches first grade and has an M.A. from DePaul University. Ryan is a sophmore attending Iowa University majoring in Industrial engineering.
