I: Intercultural Foundation
This workshop provides the foundation information that is critical in building effective intercultural communication skills. Here participants will begin to work to understand both the overt and covert impacts that cultural and co-cultural variables introduce to the process of communication and human interaction.
This workshop also explores the subtle, natural, and unintentional formation of stereotypes and biases. Participants will work to understand this process and build safeguards against the process.
II: Intercultural Group & Institutional Social Systems
This workshop examines the complex system and power relationships that exist between diverse groups and their work environment. Participants will work toward understanding the differing effects of various organizational structures on cultural and co-cultural groups.
III: Intercultural Conflict
Nonverbal communication and verbal communication differences between cultural and co-cultural groups are analyzed as sources of common interpersonal conflict in this workshop. Participants will work toward developing the skills necessary for more effective interpretation of these communication differences.
IV: Intercultural Impacts on Information Processing
Co-cultural and cultural differences in the processing of information and/or learning styles are examined in this workshop. Whether making a formal classroom presentation or teaching another person a job skill, participants will acquire both the skills and knowledge to more effectively execute the task.
V: Generating a More Inclusive Climate
How to maximize the positive nature of institutional environments for all co-cultural and cultural groups is the focus of this workshop. Participants will learn how to generate both higher degrees of unity and a higher perception of unity.
VI: Improving the Potential for Diverse Hiring
This workshop is independent of the other six and is really only intended for those with responsibility in the hiring process. This workshop is designed to help participants learn to remove unintentional barriers to the potential for diverse hiring.
