MAINT 101: MAINTENANCE - MECHANICAL REPAIR I

4 hrs. (OC)

Prerequisite: MAT 094, appropriate math placement score, or departmental approval

This is the first of a two-course sequence in mechanical maintenance and repair. The course sequence is designed principally for people seeking employment or upgrading of skills as maintenance mechanics, repair persons, and building maintenance staff.

MAINT 102: MAINTENANCE - MECHANICAL REPAIR II

4 hrs. (OC)

Prerequisite: MAINT 101 with a grade of "C" or better, or department approval

This is the second course in maintenance-mechanical repair. This course sequence is designed primarily for people seeking employment as mechanics, repairmen, or building maintenance staff.

MAINT 103: MAINTENANCE - ELECTRICAL REPAIR I

4 hrs. (OC)

Prerequisite: One year high school algebra or credit or concurrent enrollment in MAT 094 or department approval

This course is designed to provide the student with the fundamental theory necessary to understand and thereby perform electrical maintenance. Reading schematics, basic electrical topics, electrochemical action, batteries, DC circuits, transformers, AC circuits, electrical measuring instruments, and electrical protective devices will be studied.

MAINT 104: MAINTENANCE - ELECTRICAL REPAIR II

4 hrs. (OC)

Prerequisite: MAINT 103 with a grade of "C" or better and employment in this field; or department approval

This course is designed to provide the student with the knowledge and skill necessary to maintain and repair D.C. and A.C. electrical equipment. Topics covered include D.C. equipment, single phase and three phase motors, A.C. controls, and electrical troubleshooting techniques.
