Program Information/Mission:
The Environmental Science program course of study at Illinois Central College is designed for students planning to transfer to a senior college or university for completion of a baccalaureate degree. During the two years at Illinois Central College, the student concentrates on building a strong foundation in the sciences and mathematics, and meets the requirements for the Associate in Science degree. The Environmental Science program is designed to prepare the student for a wide range of career opportunities. In addition to the positions traditionally available in laboratories that engage in environmental testing, professional careers exist within governmental agencies, including: (1) state and national departments of the EPA; (2) local and state planning departments; (3) state geological and natural history surveys; (4) the National Park Service; (5) soil and water conservation districts; (6) local and state health departments; (7) U.S. Geological Survey; and (8) OSHA.
