The benefits of participating in the Student Education and Service Ambassador program include:

• Participation in "Details" the Student Development Transcript that provides an official record of extracurricular involvement and personal development while at Illinois Central College
• Specially designed shirts and/or name badges to wear during volunteer activities
• Acknowledgment at the Student Recognition Banquet

Another important benefit is the chance to improve grades and heighten civic responsibility. A study reported in Higher Education and National Affairs, May 27, 1996, suggests that those involved in service improved their grades, had higher academic aspirations, and spent more hours studying (than those who were not involved in service activities). Service participants were also more committed to social responsibility and helping others.
