Enabling Javascript

Javascript is a scripting language that allows dynamic content on Web pages. Some course materials may require it to be enabled to work properly.

Enabling javascript in MS Internet Explorer 5.0+:

  • Inside of the browser, go to Tools > Internet Options
  • Choose Security Tab (Click the Custom Level bottom at the bottom of the panel)
  • Scroll down over three quarters of the way until you find a heading labeled "Scripting"
  • The first subheading is "Active Scripting"
  • The options beneath are disable, enable, prompt. Click in the circle next to "Enable"
  • Click OK twic to apply the setting

Internet Explorer on a Mac:

  • Inside of the browser, go to Edit > Preferences
  • Click on the Web Content heading under Browser Display in the preferences pane list (on left)
  • In that displayed pane there are 3 sections. The bottom section is titled "Active Content". Check the box labeled "Enable Scripting"
  • Click OK to apply the change

Enabling javascript in Netscape Navigator 6.0:

  • Inside of the browswer, go to Edit > Preferences
  • In the Preferences panel, in the left Category pane, click the "Advanced" Category
  • On the right side of the panel in the Advanced section, click in the checkbox for Enable Javascript for Navigator
  • Click OK to apply the change

Enabling javascript in Netscape Navigator 7.0:

  • Inside of the browswer, go to Edit > Preferences
  • In the Preferences panel, in the left Category pane, click the "Advanced" Category to display the options beneath Advanced
  • Click on the Scripts and Plug-ins option beneath Advanced
  • At the top of the panel on the right of the screen click in the checkbox next to navigator. This enables javascript for navigator.
  • Click ok to the apply the change
