Web-based tutoring to students enrolled at partner institutions. Tutors use synchronous whiteboard and chat, and asynchronous conferences to interact with students. Tutoring is available in a variety of subjects, including Math, English, Computer Science, Chemistry, Biology, Social Sciences, and others. ICC student are encouraged to use this free service.
Creating an Account:
You must create an account to ask a question.
Go to IVC Tutor Website
Click on New Users
Check hte box next to "I agree..." and click OK
Fill-out your information, create a password and click OK
Asking a Question:
Login into the website using your account info
Under "Ask a Question", Click Go
Select your subject
Type your question and click "Submit"
E-mailed questions receive a response within 48 hours
Ask a Scientist
Ask a Scientist is an "online question-and-answer service for K-12 teachers" that was "launched in 1991." Their archives contain "more than 18,000 questions" and they receive "more than five million hits each month."
Asking a Question:
Always check the archives first—you will get a faster response and save the volunteers time
If your question is not answered in the archives, click on the Ask a Question link in navigation on the left side of the screen
Fill out the form, and then click Send Question
The Ask a Scientist team forwards your question to their expert(s) who can best answer your question
The answer will be emailed to the address you provided and posted on the website
