Accounting Clerk/Bookkeeper

Program Information:
The Accounting Clerk/Bookkeeper Program is designed for students desiring to rapidly acquire skills for entry level accounting employment. The program combines the study of accounting and related office procedures to provide a balanced background of skills and knowledge required for such positions. The student will learn how to enter details of transactions in account and cash journals from items, such as, sales receipts, invoices, check stubs, inventory records and requisitions. The individual will supply details on special journals and transfer data to a general ledger. The student will also learn to calculate employee wages and to establish and maintain appropriate payroll records as required by local, state and federal agencies. Examples of related job titles include: cashier, general bookkeeper, accounts payable clerk, savings clerk, discount clerk, trust bookkeeper and interest accrual bookkeeper.
