ICC opens tournament with Southwestern ‘W’

Yiting Cao led the Cougars with 13 kills and eight of ICC’s 13 aces. She also had four of her team’s 16 blocks.
Hannah Deterding set things up for ICC, which is ranked No. 3 in NJCAA Division II, with 24 assists. Deterding and Chelsey Probst had 13 digs apiece in the 25-16, 25-13, 25-17 victory over the Blue Storm.
“We played pretty solid all around,” ICC coach Sue Sinclair said. “We played some real good defense.”
Indian Hills beat Mineral Area, 17-25, 25-19, 26-24, 25-21 in a barn-burner in the second match of the night.
Action continues Saturday with the Cougars taking on Mineral Area at 10 a.m. They also play Indian Hills and 4 p.m. in the fourth match of the day.
