ULLIN — It took 12 innings, but Illinois Central gained its first victory of the season, a 5-4 triumph in the second game of a MidWest Athletic Conference doubleheader against Shawnee.

Ted Ralph pitched four innings of scoreless relief and Josh Phillips came on in the 12th for the save for ICC (1-13, 1-1). Colt Stroud hit a solo homer in the second for the Cougars.

Shawnee won the opener 6-4.
