AthleticsNews[print] [athletics home] [sports news home] ICC ‘clamped down’ for 82-41 victory
February 15, 2009 ICC held visiting South Suburban to 25 percent shooting and forced it into 24 turnovers for an 82-41 victory Sunday at Lorene Ramsey Gymnasium. “We clamped down on their strengths very well,” ICC coach Steve Garber said of bottling up 6-foot-3 posts Ashley Williams and Kimi Rotibi — who combined to shoot 2-for-4. Meanwhile, the rest of the Bulldogs were 11-for-46 from the floor, including 0-for-9 from 3-point range. ICC (21-6) led by as many as 46 in the game and scored 23 off turnovers against the South Holland visitors. “Our players,” Garber said, “stuck with the gameplan and did what we asked with good, solid fundamentals on the defensive end.” South Suburban (17-10) shot 6-for-24 in the first half and had scored just six just three minutes before halftime. Taylor Welch scored 16 to lead ICC, hitting a game-high four 3-pointers. Morton product Sydney Stahlberg scored 15 and Haley Jones added 13. |
