JACKSONVILLE — The Illinois Central College women’s basketball team bounced back from a loss two days earlier by forcing 36 turnovers in a 79-44 victory Monday night against the Illinois College junior varsity.

“We created a lot of opportunities with our defense,” said ICC coach Steve Garber, whose team improved to 19-6.

Haley Jones was 6-for-6 from the field, including a trio of 3-pointers, to lead the Cougars in scoring. She had 15 points.

Taylor Welch and Courtney Williams also scored in double figures, with 13 points each. All 12 ICC players who saw action scored.

“It was a complete, total team effort from everybody that got in,” Garber said about the 12th-ranked Cougars.

ICC, which lost Saturday to No. 10-ranked Kalamazoo, raced to a 43-19 lead by intermission. Juliann Papesch led Illinois College in scoring, with 10.

After wrapping up three consecutive games on the road, ICC returns home Wednesday to play Lincoln at 5:30 p.m. in East Peoria.
