Ullin — A point here, two points there, and the Illinois Central College men’s basketball team would have duplicated itself.

The No. 15-ranked Cougars captured their ninth straight win by beating Shawnee, 100-70, in Sunday’s Mid-West Athletic Conference game.

ICC (19-6, 9-2) disposed of the Saints in similar fashion on Jan. 17, 101-68.

Led by a double-double from Breland McKnight (15 points, 10 rebounds), the Cougars held between a 12- and 15-point first-half lead before taking a 50-33 advantage into halftime.

The second meeting of the M-WAC foes proved to be a chippy one.

A combined 58 fouls were called and 75 free throws shot.

ICC went 36-48 from the free-throw line while Shawnee shot 68 percent (25-for-37) from the the charity stripe.

Shawnee (11-10, 3-6) was out-rebounded 40-21 and turned the ball over 18 times, eight coming off ICC steals.

Three other Cougars, who were playing on the road for the first time since Jan. 18, scored in double figures led by 14 points from Dorel Sutherland, Jimmy Kuban pitched in 13 and Earl Thomas had 12.

In their final home game of the season, the second-place Cougars, 12-0 at home, face M-WAC leader Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The Lynx beat ICC by 12 in the first match-up of the season.
