KANKAKEE — Haley Jones hit a 10-foot jumper with 3.6 seconds remaining to lift Illinois Central College past host Kankakee, 76-75 on Saturday.

"Kind of a broken play," ICC coach Steve Garber said. "She made a move, got to the lane and hit a good shot."

ICC (18-5) ended Kankakee's undefeated home season after erasing a 15-point first-half deficit behind the solid play of reserve Sara Hamilton. She scored 10 of her 20 in the first half, after which ICC led 41-38 over the NJCAA Division II runner-up for the last two seasons.

"She came up really big," Garber said. "I'm proud of her stepping up like that."

Kankakee (16-5) outrebounded ICC 51-25 (20 offensively) and got a combined 46 points and 28 rebounds from post players Kayla Cripe (30 points, 18 rebounds) and East Peoria product Khassandrae Brown.

Jones finished with 20 points and six of the ICC's 17 steals; it forced 26 turnovers overall and gave up only nine. Morton product Sydney Stahlberg added 10 rebounds, six points and four assists for the Cougars.
