AthleticsNews[print] [athletics home] [sports news home] ICC women step up, win at Highland
December 2, 2008 Janelle Hensold had 14 points and Brittany Trammell scored 11 for ICC, which led 48-38 despite being a bit short-handed. Haley Jones, the Cougars' leading scorer, didn't play because of shin pain, ICC coach Steve Garber said. Rachel Sneddon didn't play because she didn't participate in ICC's last practice, Garber said. 'Yet we still stuck it out and had some people step up for us,'' Garber said. A prime example, almost literally, was Mandy Kirby, who at 5-foot-5 is the shortest player on the ICC roster. Kirby had 14 rebounds, a team high. 'Normally, we wouldn't get anything from her in that area,'' Garber said. Trammell also had some key rebounds toward the end of the game, Garber said. Jaclyn Barton had 22 points to lead Highland, which is an NJCAA Division I school. Mallroy Magee had 16 points for the hosts, and Calley Grisham had 14 points. |
