Glenn Herold, Head Coach
ICC reinstated its men's and women's cross country program in 2002 and Glenn Herold has been the head coach since that time. In 2003, the women's team became Region 24 champions and finished 9th in the Division II nationals. The men's team was close behind with their 10th place finish. Both teams earned Academic All-American recognition.
Coach Herold is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Madison, where he was three times All-American and three time Big 10 champion in track and cross country. Before that, he was Wisconsin state cross country champ, setting a new state record. In 1972, he placed 6th in the 5000 meters at the Olympic trials. At the World University Games held in Moscow in 1973, he finished 2nd in the 5000 meters. In 1975, he broke the American record in the indoor 5000 meter run, and outdoors ran the 10,000 meters in 28:05.2, making him the third fastest American of all time.
More recently, Coach Herold was the only male runner to win and have course records in both the 4 mile and 15 km runs at the Peoria Steamboat Classic. He was elected to the Steamboat Hall of Fame in 2002.
