Illinois Landscape Contractors Association
Scholarships are awarded to Illinois resident enrolled full-time in an accredited two-year horticulture program.
Total Award – One $1,000 and five $750 scholarships awarded statewide each year.
Requirements - Complete ILCA Scholarship Application Form. Attach one-page letter describing goals and aspirations in the field of horticulture. Written evaluation of classroom performance by instructor. Transcript of grades and cumulative grade point average. Letters or evaluations from employers, internship supervisors, or other work in the horticulture/landscape industry.
Associated Landscape Contractors of America
Scholarships are awarded each year to students who enroll in an ALCA accredited program or a program with an ALCA Student Chapter memberships or attend ALCA Student Career Days.
Award - $1,000 or $500.
Requirements – Complete ALCA Educational Foundation Scholarship Application. Submit two letters of reference from a) a member of ALCA, b) most recent employer, c) horticulture program instructor, d) counselor, e) church leader or other persons qualified to attest to your character and scholastic abilities. Submit copy of college transcript.
Illinois Nurserymen’s Association
Scholarships are awarded each year to students who participate and complete the INA Horticulture Occupational & Professional Experience (H.O.P.E.) program.
Total Award – $1,000.
Requirements – Attend 7 one and two day programs each month at Central Illinois nurseries or educational events. Program runs from September to March.
Students are required to complete a resume and indicate their specific interest in the Nursery/Landscape profession. Applicants should include a picture.
Peoria Evening Garden Club Scholarship
One Scholarship is awarded each year to an Illinois Central College sophomore (30 hours or more) who is majoring in Horticulture. Full- or part-time students may apply.
Total Award - $500 to applied toward Tuition and Fees, books and supplies.
Requirements – Scholarship administered by the ICC Foundation. Students must make application on-line to be eligible. Students must have completed 30 or more hours in the Horticulture program. A GPA of 2.0 is required. Preference is given to students with need.
Peoria Garden Club Scholarship
Two Scholarships are awarded each year to an Illinois Central College Horticulture student who is also a member of the Hort Club. Full- or part-time students may apply. The scholarship was established to enable local students a means to continue to study horticulture.
Total Award – Two $500 scholarships to be applied toward Tuition and Fees, books and supplies.
Requirements – Scholarhip administered by the ICC Foundation. Students maust make application on-line to be eligible. Students must participate in the Hort Club and have a 2.0 GPA. Preference is given to students with need.
Peoria Garden Club Scholarship
One scholarship is awarded each year to a graduate of the Illinois Central College Horticulture Program and who will be attending a 4-year University in Illinois. If no recent graduates apply, then an ICC graduate already enrolled at the University may apply.
Total Award - $1,000.
Requirements - The recipient will be a graduate of the Illinois Central College Horticulture program and is enrolled in an Illinois University in Horticulture or closely-related major. If no current graduate applies, a student already enrolled in the University may apply. Students will need to show proof of enrollment at the University. Students will need a minimum 2.0 GPA. The application is administered through the Horticulture Program.
Horticulture Club Scholarship
The purpose of the scholarship is to recognize and award students who have shown academic dedication and the desire to make a career contribution to the Horticulture Industry.
Applications are limited to students working toward an Associate in Applied Science degree in Horticulture at Illinois Central College. Freshman students are eligible (15-24 hours of Horticulture/Soils classes). Full- or part-time students are eligible.
Total Award - $300 cash award.
Requirements – Freshman (15-24 hours in Horticulture/Soils). Participation in Horticulture Program activities as well as their participation in activities outside the Program will be evaluated. Completion of the Application Form. Academic achievement and dedication to Horticulture will also be evaluated. An interview with the Horticulture faculty and staff may be required.
Kevin Lynn Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded by the Horticulture Club in memory of a former student, Kevin Lynn. It is awarded to a sophomore student (>24 hours in Horticulture/soils) who has completed at least one Occupational Internship. Full- or part-time students are eligible.
Applicants are limited to students who are working toward an Associate in Applied Science degree at Illinois Central College. Applicants must be considered a sophomore (>24 hours) and completed one internship.
Total Award - $300 cash award.
Requirements - Sophomore (>24 hours in Horticulture/Soils). Participation in Horticulture Program activities as well as their participation in activities outside the Program will be evaluated. Completion of the Application Form. Academic achievement and dedication to Horticulture will also be evaluated. An interview with the Horticulture faculty and staff may be required. Employers internship evaluation.
Peoria Herb Guild Scholarship
The scholarship is open to any ICC Horticulture student who has completed or is currently enrolled in the required freshman Horticulture and Agriculture courses, and will continue with the sophomore courses. Either full- or part-time students are eligible.
Total Award - $350 and a 1-year membership in the Peoria herb Guild. Proof of enrollment will be required prior to disbursement of award.
Requirements – Student will have completed or is currently enrolled in the required Freshman Horticulture/Agriculture courses and plans to continue for the sophomore year. Applicant should exhibit interest and dedication to the Horticulture Profession, participate in in-school and out of school activities, show scholastic achievement, demonstrate financial need, and be neat and thorough in completing the application.
The award recipient is encouraged to attend at least one meeting of the Peoria Herb Guild.
