Graphic Arts History

The Graphic Arts Department at Illinois Central College began in 1972. It has provided job skills for technician-level employment within the printing industry and a solid technical background for individuals interested in printing management. Offering both an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Graphic Arts/Desktop Publishing and a Certificate in Desktop Publishing, the department stresses a concentrated, practical approach to technical training. The department delivers state-of-the-art training in the computer skills required in desktop publishing including page layout, scanning techniques, digital photography, computer illustration, image editing and web page construction, in addition to traditional printing technology.
