Graphic Arts Program Description

The Graphic Arts/Desktop Publishing program provides job skills for technician-level employment within the printing industry and allied graphic arts fields, as well as a solid technical background for individuals interested in printing management.

But it's more than ink on paper! Today, traditional pre-press areas such as layout and design, typesetting, illustration, photo-conversion, and image assembly are dominated by modern, fast computers utilizing state-of-the-art software and digital image output. This blending of digital image manipulation and practical printing knowledge prepares graduates of the program for employment at many of the graphic arts companies producing web pages and multimedia in addition to printed materials.

The Graphic Arts Department is also a quality source of retraining for those currently employed in the trade. Part-time students are welcome to enroll in any courses for which they have completed prerequisites; full-time attendance and degree pursuit are not required.
