Machine Tool Technology Program Description
The Machine Tool Technology program has been developed as an employment
avenue for students who seek a career in skilled trades. This program
provides education and training courses that are usually a part of a formal
tool and die maker apprenticeship. A graduate of the program is ready
to then complete the on-the-job work experience through his employer that
will lead to journeyman status and certification by the U.S. Department
of Labor.
Students will be introduced to potential employers over the course of
the program, and the student will intern at a local metal-machining company
who employs apprentices. On completion of this program, the formal educational
and training components of an apprenticeship will be satisfied, with on-the-job
training remaining after becoming employed as an apprentice.
