FFA Horticulture CDE

 

The Horticulture Career Development Event sponsored by the Illinois Central College Horticulture program is designed to test students knowledge in four (4) key areas:

General Knowledge of Horticulture - Written Exam
Plant Identification - Identification Exam
Plant Evaluation or Judging - Plant Judging of rings of 4 plants each
Horticulture Practicum - Landscape or Floriculture practical application

The Horticulture CDE will follow the format of the State CDE as devised by the Illinois Association of Vocational Agriculture Teachers (IAVAT). The description is provided in the link at the left.

A team consists of 5 students. The team will have one student participant for the written exam, one for the identification exam, and one for the plant evaluation. Two students will work as a team for the practicum.

The event will take about 2 hours to complete - from registration to awards.

The event will be held at the Illinois Central College Land Laboratory. Registration will take place in the Horticulture Classroom (HL1).
