Diesel Powered Equipment Technology Program Description
The Diesel Powered Equipment Technology (DPET) program is a two-year
program, accredited by the AED Foundation, that trains you to service, repair, and diagnose diesel powered
equipment like agricultural machinery, tractors, on-highway trucks, bulldozers,
road graders, combines, loaders, and more.
This program combines classroom learning with hands-on experience. The
lab is equipped with the latest electronic test equipment to help you
diagnose problems. You'll work with electronic diagnostic tools, bore
gauges, flow meters, calipers, dial indicators, laptop computers, engine
dynamometers, digital multimeters, micrometers, pressure analyzers, power
wrenches, hand tools, and other specialized equipment. You'll serve two
paid internships during your sophomore year working at a dealership that
services diesel powered equipment. Upon completion of this program, you'll
be ready to enter the workforce or continue your education by transferring
to a four-year college or university.

POST-SECONDARY SCHOOL ACCREDITATION PROGRAM THROUGH THE AED FOUNDATION
Raising Standards for the Future in Construction Equipment Technology
The AED Foundation accreditation is for post-secondary technical schools and community colleges that value the importance of the broader skills, both technically and academically, that today's technician requires. In the technical disciplines, accreditation requires that a school prepare technicians in all of the following:
- Diesel engines and fuel systems
- Electronics/Electrical
- Hydraulics
- Power trains
- Air conditioning systems
- Safety practices related to each of the above
The AED Foundation is an affiliate of Associated Equipment Distributors (AED), based in Oak Brook, IL. AED is an international trade association of the construction equipment industry, representing over 1,000 companies that sell, rent, service, manufacture and support equipment used in construction and construction-related industries. AED has served the industry for more than eight decades.
Founded in 1991, the Foundation supports AED's overall mission by developing and delivering professional education and workforce development programs for the construction equipment industry. |
