College Credit by Examination

CLEP General and Subject Exams
CLEP examinations give students an opportunity to earn college credit for prior knowledge in certain subject areas by taking an exam in that area.

CLEP at ICC
CLEP exams are conducted in the Testing Center by appointment only

Clep Fees: $15 service fee payable to Illinois Central College, $72 fee payable to CLEP.

In order to register for a test date, the Testing Center must have a registration/admission form and the $15 service fee at least a week in advance of the test date. The registration/admission forms are available in the Testing Center or at www.collegeboard.com/clep. Students may either bring the form and fee into the Testing Center or mail it to:

Students may only take two CLEP Exams per test date. For more information, contact the Testing Center at (309) 694-5234.

CLEP General Exams
Illinois Central College awards credit for the following general exams. Proficiency level for gerneral exams is the national 50th percentile or above

You must pass the exam prior to completion of 3-4 transfer level credit hours in the area covered:

  • Humanities - 3 credit hours
  • Social Science - 3 credit hours
  • Natural Science - 4 credit hours

CLEP Subject Exams
ICC Testing Center administers all of the CLEP test offered but ICC only accepts the following for credit:
