Psychology 119
This career-planning course is taught one of two ways; as eight-week self-paced course or part of a regular classroom course. The regular classroom course is taught as part of our Academic Discovery Program which combines Psychology 114 (College Orientation) with Psychology 119. Students must sign up for same sections in both classes. The self-paced course is offered twice each semester and on both campuses.
Class activities include:
- Individualized paper and pencil assessments
- Computer assessments and exploration
- Pre and Post meetings with a Career Counselor
- Research using books, videos, informational interviews and the internet
Goals include:
- Self assessment of individual strengths and interests
- Identifying an area or major that best relates to you
- Researching occupations, demand and salary considerations
- Researching companies, colleges and career paths
