Announcing the 2023-2024 Selection for Illinois Central College One Book One College!

Kindred By Octavia Butler

The ICC Library “One Book, One College” (OBOC) Committee is happy to announce Kindred  By Octavia Butler as the 2022-2023 Program Selection.

"This book is a captivating blend of historical and science fiction. The novel follows Dana, a young African American woman who mysteriously travels back in time to the antebellum South. As she confronts the brutal realities of slavery and saves the life of her white slaveholding ancestor, Dana is forced to grapple with the complexities of race, power, and identity. Butler's storytelling delves into the enduring legacy of America's troubled past, making Kindred a powerful exploration of history and kinship."
